Trains and trams
NAFSA designs and manufactures electromagnets for trains and trams.
We develop custom components forming part of state-of-the-art railway safety systems, such as automated door opening and closing systems (exterior and interior locks) for carriages and cabs.

Electromagnet applications for trains and trams
The range of electromagnets and electromagnetic components is widely used for door system automation on all types of rail vehicles:
- Commuter trains
- Intercity and long-distance trains
- Underground metro trains
- Funicular trains
- Trams
- Talgo trains
Electromagnets for high-speed trains
NAFSA also works for the high-speed train industry, manufacturing automatic opening and closing systems for outer doors, inter-carriage connections and cabs.
The electromagnets specifically designed for these uses are adapted to the trains’ different temperature requirements, they are able to function in case of voltage fluctuations and their sturdiness and durability is guaranteed despite constant use.
The system most commonly used in these cases is an electric signal sent to the electromagnet, enabling the doors to open and the passengers to walk through, maintaining the current signal until the train leaves the station.
