DESIGN AND MANUFACTURE OF ELECTROMAGNETS FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGERS

ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGERS
SECTOR

We develop custom electromagnets and electromagnetic locks for manufacturers of charging points, wallboxes, and fast and ultra-fast charging stations. These components lock the connector while current is flowing, secure access to the power electronics, and release the connector when the system commands it or detects a fault.

APPLICATIONS OF ELECTROMAGNETS FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGERS

Locking and actuating electromagnets are used at all points in the station where a component must be held, released, or prevented from being accessed:

  • Locking the connector into the socket during loading.
  • Holding the hose and connector in place on the bracket.
  • Emergency release and disconnection.
  • Interlocking doors and power electronics panels.
  • Vandal-proof protection of sockets and compartments.
  • Automatic coupling and robotic loading.

CU20/CPB

Bistable latch: A voltage pulse sets it to the locked position, and a reverse pulse returns it to its original state. When power is off, permanent magnets hold it in either position. Zero power consumption throughout the entire charging session.

CU30/CP

Tension-lock: When power is lost, the pin retracts. The shaft guide is reinforced to withstand radial forces. Recommended when the connector must be released in the event of a power outage.

ERC30CP sin fondo

ERC30/CP

Stress-free latch: Remains locked if the power fails and is released by an electrical signal. For cabinet doors, hose holders, and compartments that must not open during a power outage.

Serie ECI

A magnet system holds a spring in a compressed state; a low-energy pulse releases it and triggers the stroke. Manual reset. Base for emergency release mechanisms powered by a low-capacity energy reserve.

ELECTROMAGNETS FOR
FAST- AND ULTRA-FAST-CHARGING STATIONS

In fast and ultra-fast charging, electromagnets operate under high power conditions, in forced-ventilated enclosures, and undergo intensive use at service stations, in fleetsm and at urban charging stations. The requirements boil down to three key points: repeatable performance after thousands of operations, no self-heating inside the equipment, and a known state in any failure scenario.

The most important decision is made during the design phase: how each lock behaves when power is off. In fail-safe mode, the device unlocks when power is lost, allowing the connector to be released and the user to exit safely. In fail-secure mode, the device remains locked when power is off, protecting power cabinets, wiring, and compartments from unauthorized access.

A single station typically combines both logics: safe release at the point of contact with the user and safe locking at technical access points. We help the manufacturer assign the appropriate type of solenoid and failure strategy to each point, and validate the entire system with prototypes before mass production.
